BNOCULARS looking toward Phillipsburg, NJ view of FLAG Soldier looking South

In the Summer of 1999, on a warm afternoon in the month of June, the author sat in the shade of Maple trees on Center Square. Noticed something interesting, one of the soldiers on the monument looks off to the right, away from Northampton Street. It seemed strange, the other soldiers look up the roads that enter Center Square and one soldier looking through binoculars, looks at an office. It's a puzzle. So, bought a magnetic compass and tried to figure out why the soldier looks in the direction he does. Used the compass to follow the soldier's gaze. To my amazement, discovered the soldier looks toward a similar monument across the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. And another surprise, there is a soldier in Phillipsburg looking back. It seems to this writer the builders of the monuments had a master plan to unite the neighbors of Easton, Pennsylvania and Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

However;
research of back issues of Easton's newpaper,
The Easton Express, found no confirming statements.
